We completed the installation of a sleek aluminum louvered roof system in Demarest, New Jersey, turning a fully exposed patio into a versatile outdoor retreat. The homeowners were looking for a solution that offered reliable shade while still allowing natural light to filter through when desired. They wanted comfort and protection without the closed-in feeling of a solid roof.
This modern system checked every box. Built from high-grade extruded aluminum, it can withstand winds of up to 165 mph. Its adjustable louvers rotate 90 degrees, giving the family complete control over light and shade with the push of a button. Automatic rain sensors were also included, ensuring the roof closes instantly during showers for year-round usability.
Before the project began, the area was empty and required footings as well as permitting, both of which we handled as part of the process.
During installation, we designed a custom wooden Azek pack to connect the patio walkway to the new system, eliminating the gap between the house and the structure. This detail was carefully finished to match the home’s look and provide a seamless transition.
The final installation came together beautifully. With the custom Azek filler, the system blended perfectly with the existing home design, hiding gaps and creating a polished, modern aesthetic. The transformed patio now offers a shaded retreat ideal for BBQs, family gatherings, or simply lounging — with the adjustable louvers adding a unique striped effect that enhances the atmosphere in any weather.
